System level test on a prototyping board using a switch matrix

For development of new applications a prototyping system is used that has a high degree of flexibility, also for testing. A method for TAP signal routing is presented which offers full flexibility with respect to Boundary Scan test applications. Especially for those PCBs that are used as prototyping platforms it makes the design-for-testability phase less critical. A comparison is made between known routing devices and the switch matrix. The impact of delay, fan out and slew rate on test signals using the switch matrix are discussed based on experimental results.
